Today I’m continuing talking about what happens inside of you when you’re stressed, by looking at the new research of Polyvagal Theory.
Specifically, we’re talking about what happens emotionally, physically and biochemically when you’re in the different states of stress (from the no stress of peace, to the high stress of anxiety and panic attacks, trauma triggers and PTSD).
If you’re a woman who’s been physically or sexually assaulted, and you froze (instead of fighting or running from you attacker), this episode will help you understand why. God designed you perfect. Your brain and body had good reasons for doing what they did in that moment, and today I’m going to explain all of that for you, to help bring clarity and truth to your story, and to remove some of the shame you might be carrying from all of that.

Today I’m talking about your nervous system - the part your body where your stress comes from.
In case you didn’t know this - your stress lives in your body, not your mind. Specifically, it lives in your nervous system, which is the communication line between your brain and body. When you’re stressed, your brain says “danger”, but it’s your nervous system that does the work of shifting you into the state of stress, and keeping you there.
Knowing this can bring so much clarity of why your stress is such a lived, felt experience. As well as help you find the right mental health techniques to turn it off.

Hey Beautiful Lady,
Today I’m going deeper into the Bad Stress state known as Fight, Flight, Freeze.
This state is the most severe end the Stress Spectrum, and is what we often refer to as anxiety, a panic or anxiety attack, trauma trigger or PTSD. It’s also the state where you’ll feel the most helpless. If you’ve ever struggled with one of these states and have felt helpless, terrified and like there’s no end in sight, this episode is for you. 
We’ll learn about where this state comes from (in your external and internal worlds), why God designed you with these 3 states (that feel so terrible), and how to turn them off with mental health and Jesus.
Regardless of whether you’re struggling with these states, or you know someone who is, this episode is an incredibly valuable resource in understanding how to turn off this level of panic and help yourself (or someone else) come back into the state of peace in your mind and body.

Today I’m diving into the Bad Stress end of the stress spectrum, to help you understand what’s happening inside of your brain and body when you’re not ok. 
Bad stress is the stress you’re used to talking about - your stress, overwhelm, anxiety, panic, anxiety/panic attacks, trauma triggers or maybe even PTSD. It’s the survival mode God created you with to keep you alive in this world. So it’s not actually bad, it’s just often distorted by satan to destroy you, and keep you stuck in it.

Hey Beautiful Lady,
Today I’m talking about God’s third holiday: Sukkot (also known as the Feast of Tabernacles (or Booths)).
When God took His people out of slavery and through the desert, they had nothing. No food, no water, no shelter, no mental health care to deal with the trauma of slavery. They were used to be owned - someone else in control of everything in their lives. The trauma of that abuse would have led their hearts to worship and bow down to the evil around them.
It’s hard to relate to the Israelites when you live in a comfortable, safe life. But in your own pain, you will often bow down to the things around you to rescue you from that pain, without realizing the spiritual consequences. 
In mental health we call this coping. And at times it can be valuable. But when cope becomes your crutch to numb your pain, you never find real healing.
It’s only in surrendering everything to Jesus where real healing takes place.
Which is why God takes you through the desert seasons. To strip away everything that you’re leaning on and relying on to be “ok”. So that you’ll give it all up to Him to heal and be the Authority of.
Sukkot is the holiday that celebrates all of that. The goodness of God for bringing you into the desert, where He removes everything that you don’t need, so that He can be the source of everything you do need. And to celebrate that out of that trying time, your heart finally surrendered deeply to Him in the journey we call healing. And that is a true reason to celebrate God’s goodness.
This episode got a little long, but I wanted you to know the true reason to celebrate the desert seasons as a miraculous work of God in your mental health: God is good. God brings you everything you need to heal and trust Him. Because God loves you more than you’re broken heart will ever understand. Trust Him to be your rock of living water.
